Public Library Reading Program Blessings

Hello Friend,

For October, our local public library offered a deal, where your child had a paper and they needed to read 15 minutes a day. Then, they could cross out a pumpkin. After all the pumpkins are colored in or crossed out, you bring it back for rewards.

This month's rewards were quite amazing! This is what each of my four children received...

  • Pizza sticks and sauce at a local pizza place (valued at $9.99 each)
  • A small chocolate shake at a fast food place (valued at $2.49 each)
  • a free book (valued at average $5.99 retail)
  • choice of pumpkin stickers or "wooden stick scratches the black paper" (I don't know what those are called.) activity

$18.47 x 4 kids = $73.88!

I know sometimes it's easier to stay out of the public library because I don't want my children to see some of the questionable material on display, but this program was such a blessing to us with my husband's job loss and us living on such a tight budget right now.

We made a night of it and my husband, Mike, and I shared a pizza sticks order and each had our own chocolate shake, so our outing cost under $17 with tax. What a blessing! Yay for library reading programs!

Hello Friend, Have you ever thought about how "less" can become "more"? Here are a few things for you to think about... Less junk food, more nutrients. Less car trips, more exercise. Less sweets, more weight loss. Less possessions, more space. Less self-pity, more happiness. Less presents, more appreciation. Less waste, more conservation. Less electronics (TV, computer, cell phone, etc.), more conversation. Less complaining, more thankfulness. Less sleep, more time in the day (maybe we should...

rubber stamp wheels

Hello Friend, I have been going through auction items to list them online for sale and came across these rubber stamp roll things. I don't know if most people call them Stamp Roll, Stamp Wheel, Circular Stamper. If you have some knowledge about this, please reply and let me know. I appreciate it. My Bread Machine Broke My lovely $5 rummage sale bread machine gave out on me yesterday. I was so sad that I cried about it. I think I just feel overwhelmed trying to do "all the things" right now....

abandoned storage auction unit boxes totes

Hello Friend, A few weeks ago, we bought an abandoned storage unit for just $5. It was some distance away, so we had to rent a Uhaul for $94 to get all the stuff to our garage. It was someone's estate items. The unit hasn't been touched since 2018. The storage garage property owner was finally full in all their other units with a waiting list and had to put it up for auction since no one had been paying on this one for a long time. We are busy people, so it takes us a while to get through all...
