I just signed up to sell at a local craft show. It's been a few years since I have done this. I can not believe how much it costs to have a space at a craft sale! I had to pay $125 to have a space to hold three 8 foot tables!

Now I remember why I love selling on Etsy! At the same time of year in 2018, I did a Craft Show that I paid $45 for a space at, but I did not even make my table fee! I put the products back on Etsy and got a sale for $48 worth of product within hours.

My dream goal for that sale at the time was to get rid of a lot of items quickly as our house was on the market and we were moving and I prefer to have "less to move". I felt there was a good amount of traffic at the show, even with the Wisconsin winter storm that day, but either not enough people to buy a lot of my products or they did not like what I had to offer.

If you have crafts, craft supplies or antiques over 20 years old sitting around your home that you would like to move out of your house, yet earn some money on, I encourage you to consider starting an Etsy shop.

My favorite thing about Etsy is that I do not need to leave my home to sell there! Seriously! I order my materials to make products as well as my shipping materials, printer ink, paper and clear packing tape to be shipped to my home. I make and package products here.

Etsy has a part of their system that you can print your own labels to put on the package. I just print them on computer paper, cut them out and use the clear packing tape to tape it on the package. If the item is small enough and if I chose USPS, I just put it in my mailbox with the flag up and the carrier takes it away. If there is too much to fit in the box, I contact USPS through their website and arrange a pick up and they pick them up from my home.

The payment people make on Etsy goes right to my debit/checking account in my bank so I don't have to go cash a check either. I just stay in my cozy house, make products, sell products, ship products and receive payment.

It's so much easier than arranging to "get in a show", pricing the product, loading the product, unloading the product, well... you get the picture!

So Why Did I Sign Up To Sell At A Craft Show?

It was seriously my New Year's Resolution! You can ask my family. We say them out loud. I love to socialize and see people and hang out all day, so why not have a booth there?

It's a gamble, for sure. Will I earn back my booth fee? I do have different items for sale now than I did back then. And, now I can leave everything in my Etsy shop while I am selling locally thanks to Etsy working with Square. I just find the items I am selling, charge the customer, they can pay with their debit or credit card. It works with my shop to remove the items so I don't accidentally sell an item to two people at once.

So, I can be selling in two places at once. I am outgoing and I love the people. It will be work to price, haul, set up, and take down but why not? The sale is in November. Stay subscribed and I will let you know how it goes.
