Let's answer the big question first - did I stay out of the JoAnn Fabric store? I mentioned it in this previous email.

No, I did not! I went last night with my husband's blessing and he gave me a budget and I stayed in it. I did try to talk him and myself out of it though. I have enough fabric and yarn, I don't really need more. I spent too much at the grocery store this week. I didn't earn enough money this month to deserve this trip. Yet, he still blessed me with it - so I went. After 28 years of marriage, he is still so good to me.

I am glad I was able to shop there one more time before they close the store. Those materials will eventually all end up making useful items for our home, gifts and products for my Etsy shop.

Unpaper Towels

My Unpaper Towels sewing tutorial has been popular this week and with good reason. With the price on paper goods (and food) going higher and higher, at some point we need to get back to the basics and live like Grandma did and use washable cloths so we can afford to eat!

I love to use cotton flannel to make ours. All the fabric I bought last night was cotton flannel. I need to make more of these for our home. Ours have lasted over two years so far, but it's fun to have a new print for Spring.

A little secret about our household - we don't actually put unpaper towels on the roll like the photo below. There are currently eight people living at home and we go through them quickly, so I keep them folded in half and stacked in a nice rectangular plastic box in my dining room/kitchen area - where the messes tend to happen.
