7 Homemade Presents for Kids

Hello Friend,

I am a person who loves to give and receive homemade gifts. If you need a gift for a child, I suggest that you look around and see what materials you have on hand. Then, if necessary, purchase inexpensive new materials and save any leftovers for future projects. Here are some ideas:

  • Bean Bags - Use durable material scraps and dried beans or dried corn.
  • A Dress Up Box or Tote - Fill with yard sale finds or items donated by Great Aunt Hazel.
  • Play Dough - I like to place what I make for child birthday parties inside those clear empty lunch meat containers with red lids, so they can see what color they will be using.
  • A Treasure Box - Made from a durable wooden box with a lid, add the hardware and small padlock and key.
  • Play Food - Save all small food containers like spice cans, mini parmesan container and plastic containers with no sharp edges. A small cardboard container, like a colorful gelatin or instant pudding box could be filled with recycled paper or leftover pieces of fabric for durability and then taped all over and sealed with clear packaging tape or clear contact paper to make it easy to wash.
  • Homemade Painted Shirt - I have made these for my own children when they have a favorite character. Pro tip: find a coloring book with the character, use tracing paper and trace the picture you want with a pencil, flip it over and trace the other side with an iron on pencil, iron it onto the front of the shirt so you can see lines to color in, but then use my tutorial for the other steps and materials so you know how to make the paint stay through many washes.
  • Cookies - Make them extra special by using frosting to write the child's name on the cookies that are on top of the batch. These could be place in an empty ice cream bucket that you decorate. Cover wording with contact paper or stickers.

seasonal clothing tracker inventory list

Hello Friend, As a mom of 8 kids, I go through the kids clothing every Spring and Fall. This is how I do it. On a Saturday morning, I hand each older kid a Seasonal Clothing Tracker with the Type of clothing or accessories and sections to write how many they Have of each. I go through the younger kids' clothing at the same time. When I have all the papers, I go through and write how many of each item are Needed. My older kids wash their clothing once a week, so I like them to have at least...

pantry of canned food

Hello Friend, We did a little grocery shopping again this weekend. I am always shocked by how quickly the prices are rising each time we go. There are currently eight people to feed living in my household and four of us are adults. People often ask how we do it (pay the bills, feed and clothe our large family when they know that my husband has an average full time job with a side hustle of selling on ebay and I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom - who currently works my blog and Etsy shop...
