A Few Tightwad Ideas Today

Hello Friend,

Don't be offended at the word, tightwad, it's a complement. We need to be as wise and frugal as possible these days so our families will have enough.

A Few Ideas Today...

  • Return Address Labels - cut out the mailing labels that junk mail companies have sent you. Use a glue stick to glue them onto your envelopes. Finally - a use for junk mail!
  • Apples to use in the winter - read the article on my blog below for how to get them and what to do with them.
  • Energy savings with your clothes dryer - consider hanging washed clothes outside to dry. If your dryer does not have a moisture sensor, try setting your dryer for less time. They may be dry sooner than you think. Also be sure your dryer vent is clear.
  • Save your organic or heirloom seeds - as most of us wrap up the gardening season, this is likely self-explanatory. But keep in mind, even food purchased at a local farmers market that you know for sure is organic or heirloom - these are great seeds to keep as well. If you don't have time to search on how to save them, just put them on a paper towel separated with another paper towel on top. When dry, pick them off and put them in a paper envelope. Label it with the date. I have used some that are three years old with great success.
  • Table Decor - paint a mason jar and put your yard's flowers in it. Tie some twine or ribbon around it into a bow. Instructions are below. These make great gifts as well. Grandparents day is Sunday, September 7th, if you celebrate that.

P.S. Check out my new shirt! I was watching a music video online with my daughter for homeschool and I saw the teacher wearing this. I asked for the link, saved it in my cart, received a gift card for my birthday, used it - and here it is! My favorite color is teal, but purple makes my eyes look so amazingly green. Except, you can't tell because the sun is in my eyes, lol!

seasonal clothing tracker inventory list

Hello Friend, As a mom of 8 kids, I go through the kids clothing every Spring and Fall. This is how I do it. On a Saturday morning, I hand each older kid a Seasonal Clothing Tracker with the Type of clothing or accessories and sections to write how many they Have of each. I go through the younger kids' clothing at the same time. When I have all the papers, I go through and write how many of each item are Needed. My older kids wash their clothing once a week, so I like them to have at least...

A Dress Up Box or Tote - Fill with yard sale finds or items donated by Great Aunt Hazel. Play Dough - I like to place what I...
