Saving Money When Busiest Ever
Published 4 days ago • 3 min read
Hello Friend,
My Father-In-Law recently passed away and I am watching two extra dogs this week, plus I have been taking my four kids to swimming lessons that is 30 minutes away. Is it possible to save money when you have no time available? I am in the process of learning this and will share what I know.
I am a happily married stay at home mom with 7 of my kids living at home - who runs a home business, homeschools 4 children, does homemaking, loves to make crafts and is a pet owner.
Our income is small to average. With rising prices around us, saving money is an absolute MUST.
Repair and Reuse Clothing - Save clothes and shoes to pass down to the next child. Repair what you can. Sew rips, add patches, get shoe glue for soles that are coming apart.
Find cheap entertainment - go to free local events, see if your public library is offering anything to do or prizes to earn through a reading program, Barnes and Noble is doing this right now as well, walk on a new trail, play at a new playground. Go fishing, bike riding, etc.
Get "Old School" Toys as kids' gifts - Get a jax set or jump rope and teach the children how to use them.
Be more organized - This saves money as well as time. Some examples: If you know you will need new tires in the next 6 months, carefully watch for good sale. If you can keep a price notebook of which store has what item on sale, you will know where to go and save money AND time. If you keep a place in your home for gifts, you can buy them as you see items for an amazing sale price.
Save all your empty containers - for foaming hand soap, laundry detergent, window cleaners and more.
Make your own when possible - Now get out those containers mentioned in tip #7 and make foaming hand soap in bulk one day, make laundry detergent and other cleaners on other days. Keep all these full and empty containers in an organized fashion where everyone in the house can find them. With several on hand, no one is tempted to run and buy expensive brands.
Do the time-consuming "thrifty" things first in your daily tasks - you could even record the hours spent on this activity and the savings return, so you can determine the most profitable way for you to spend your time. In making foaming hand soap, it takes me 20 minutes from start (getting everything out) to finish (putting everything away). I now make 12 bottles at one time, which lasts us one month. I don't have to write that I need it on my grocery list or pick it up at the store, pay for it, bring it home, unpack it from the grocery bag, put it away, take the recyclables out to the curb, etc. 20 minutes once a month. 12 bottles. See what I mean?
Quality time with family - my love language is quality time, quality conversation. I don't want my frugal activities to make me too busy to spend time with my loved ones. So I like to have the kids "help me" do the frugal things like gardening, canning, dehydrating, and baking. Or, I will multi-task on a home movie night and hand-sew or crochet for my Etsy shop at the same time. I will play board games or card games with the kids while bread is baking.
I know I gave you a lot of information here, but if you could just try one step today and maybe try another step another day, every little bit will help.

Hello Friend, If you are looking at your income for the next few months and wondering how ends are going to meet this fall, you are not alone. The price of many items are going up due to lack of availability with items not coming in to the US. Frugal Tips To Try Now We had a tough time in 2008, which led me to go to the library and check out many books on living frugally and to trying some different things out of necessity. What I learned during that time may be able to help us all right now....

Hello Friend, As a mom of 8 kids, I go through the kids clothing before I intentionally go to rummage sales looking for clothes. This is how I do it. A few days to a week before rummaging, I hand each older kid a printed out Seasonal Clothing Tracker. They use a pencil to write how many they have of each Type of clothing or accessories they Have and write how many they have of each in the correct sections. I go through the younger kids' clothing at the same time as the older kids are going...
